CONSTRUCTION of the bowling alley and leisure complex at West Point is starting to make visible progress.

The structure of the £1.8m Superbowl UK facility is starting to take shape at the location.

Regular Star contributor captured these pictures recently showing the latest progress at the site, off the Linkway.

The development was announced last year aiming for a spring 2018 launch but progress flatlined but work was seen to start earlier this year.

The 12-lane bowling alley will complement existing businesses at the site – which include Costa Coffee, Aldi and the recently-opened Frankie & Benny’s restaurant.

The developments at the site of the former St Thomas' Square flats, represents one of the largest leisure investments in St Helens in nearly two decades.

The complex, which aims to appeal to families and children, will house a Ninja Tag Active Assault Course and a SEGA amusement arcade.

Superbowl UK have not yet confirmed the opening date, with the company due to open its next facility in Swansea in around September.

Orbit developers, behind the scheme, are part of The Emerson Group which also includes Jones Homes.
