ON SUNDAY, the streets will once again be full of cyclists and motorcyclists for the second annual Ride 4 Violet-Grace, to raise funds for the two hospital that tried to save the four-year-old's life.

Last year, just four months after the tragic death of Violet-Grace Youens on Saturday, March 24, her mum and dad Becky and Glenn, as well as members of the St Helens community, organised the Ride 4 Violet-Grace to raise funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Whiston Hospital.

Hundreds of bikers, riders and cyclists headed out in convoy to both hospitals in her memory, raising more than £13,000.

And this year they are once again asking the community to join them in celebrating their daughter’s life in the second Ride 4 Violet-Grace event on Sunday, July 22 from 10am to 4pm.

Glenn and Becky, from Eccleston, said: “Last year it was still very raw for us and we were truly overwhelmed with the support we received from the community and in memory of our daughter.

"This year we are hoping more people turn up to remember Violet with us and thank the two hospitals that tried to save her, as well as learning about organ donation.

"We will also be upping our game with the fun day at Saints where we will have an Operation organ donation game and other fun events that the children can get involved in.

"It's very important to us to keep doing positive things for the kids who knew Violet, and from this community, so we hope families will join us to remember Violet in a lovely happy way.

"We will also be joined by the Eddie Stobart bus with Violet's name on it so people can check that out as well."

The event will once again be hosted at the Saints’ Totally Wicked Stadium and will see both cyclists and motorcyclists riding 10-miles to Whiston Hospital.

Motorcyclists will then continue to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital before arriving back at the stadium, where a fun day will await riders, families and the community.

Representatives from Merseyside Police, St Helens Council Road Safety Team, North West Ambulance Service, NHS Blood and Transplant Team, Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikes and Merseyside Fire Service will be at the event supporting the ride.

The funds raised will go towards Violet-Grace’s Gift, a charity supporting organ donation set up in her memory.
