AN arson investigation has been launched after two fires broke out at the same house in three days.

Firefighters were called to Warrington Road in Rainhill at around 3.50am on Sunday where a house was well alight and most of the site was destroyed.

Three engines were used to extinguish the blaze and remained at the scene until around 9.10am so hot spots could be dampened down.

Two adjoining properties were also affected.

Three days earlier on Thursday, crews also went to the same house to put out a fire.

No-one was hurt in either of the blazes.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "Detectives are investigating the two incidents which are both being treated as suspected arson.

"CCTV, forensic and house to house enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incidents."
