THE Steve Prescott Bridge will be joining other landmarks tonight by lighting up blue to mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS.
Commenting on the lovely gesture Ann Marr, chief executive of St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “Everyone at the Trust would like to say a huge thank you to St Helens Council for their support.
"We are extremely proud of our staff who go above and beyond every day for our patients, and celebrations like today are recognition of all their hard work.
"It’s wonderful that everyone across the Borough has come together today to celebrate 70 years of the NHS.”
To mark the special day, the Star alongside St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, called on readers to send in poems about this wonderful institution.
The three winning poems have been published in this week's paper, out today.
The winners are: Under 11s: Poppy Disbury age 8 from Sutton 12-17: Joshua Dunn age 12 from Halewood Over 18s: Helen Williams, 52 from Eccleston Park.
