COWLEY Senior Choir were in fine tune when they performed at an event in Stuttgart to celebrate the 70th anniversary since the German town twinned with St Helens.

The visit came after an invitation from the Porsche Gymnasium School in Stuttgart on behalf of the Stuttgart Council to perform at the Partner Towns in Action event on Saturday, June 30.

The group also made a number of other performances across Stuttgart during the visit.

Mr Watkins, the head of performing arts at Cowley International College, said: “The tour was a complete success and allowed us to showcase the very best of the talent that our local community has to offer.

“Our students really enjoyed being in Stuttgart and being able to sing at such a prestigious event and to represent not only the College but the whole of St Helens in the celebrations was a privilege.”

Cowley Senior Choir impressed so much that they have also been invited back to perform as a featured choir during the Stuttgart Christmas celebrations in December.

The UC Crew - a breakdance group from St Helens - were also present as were two gentlemen from the Council who had a stand at the event.

As part of the twin town celebration year, as well as the 150th anniversary of the borough, Cowley has also planned an art project educational visit to Stuttgart from July 9 to July 13.
