TRAVELLERS served with legal papers in Earlestown after leaving Vulcan sports field.
Police attended the Vulcan site in Newton-le-Willows yesterday (Wednesday) and at around 3.30pm, issued a code of conduct notice.
The group then moved to St John's Street in Earlestown.
St Helens Council has now issued them with a Section 77 notice today, Thursday, July 5, which requires them to leave the site within 24-hours.
This follows recent reports of a group, who are believed to be from France, parking up in Sherdley Park on Saturday evening after being served legal papers at Haresfinch Park.
St Helens Council officers served the group a Section 77 notice on Monday, which gave them 24 hours to vacate the park.
Another group are also set up on Pewfall Park, after failing to vacate the park they have had to face court proceedings.
A St Helens Council spokesperson said:"The council started legal proceedings against the travellers at Sherdley Park and they have now left the site.
"With regard to the unauthorised encampment at Liverpool Road, the council has applied for an eviction warrant to remove the travellers and this will be heard by the Court today.
"The council has also been made aware that a small group of travellers set up a small encampment overnight in Earlestown.
"Legal action has now started to seek their removal."
