SAINTS boss Justin Holbrook praised Danny Richardson after the young scrum half dropped the goal to secure a dramatic 23-22 win over Leeds.
Rhinos looked to have completed a double over the Saints when Brett Ferres scored with nine minutes from time to put them 22-16 in front.
But Richardson converted Ryan Morgan's try five minutes from time to level the scores before sealing a ninth straight win with a drop goal.
"It was a great game, just exactly how I expected it to be, " Holbrook said.
"I knew it was going to be a really tough game.
"Leeds are a really dangerous side and I'm just really happy to come away with the win.
"To finish the way we did was great and obviously Danny played a massive part in that.
"It was outstanding for a young kid to kick the goal and then the field goal. I thought the game management in the end was outstanding and that's pleasing because you've got to win in all different fashions.
"That gives us a lot of confidence knowing we can be behind and finish a game off like that.
"It was great for young Danny. He's a great young kid and he's a confident young fella, I'm sure he would have been expecting to kick both of those.
"You need that confidence in your half-backs because they're going to be the big-moment type players, the clutch players of basketball. You need them to deliver and he did that tonight."
