NO FURTHER action is to be taken against two men arrested in connection with an attack in which someone was allegedly hit in the head with a hammer.
Police were called to Carr Mill Road at around 7.35am by ambulance services where a 40-year-old man was allegedly attacked with a hammer.
He was taken to hospital where his condition has been described as stable.
After the assault, it was alleged that the two offenders left the scene in a car.
A 22-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, both from St Helens, were arrested a short time later on suspicion of assault.
A Merseyside Police spokesman confirmed that the two men have since been released with "no further action" to be taken.
