TWO men suffered slash and stab wounds after being attacked by three offenders on an estate's playing field last night.

The violence unfolded on the field between Ashurst Drive and Bosworth Road, Blackbrook on Monday night (June 11).

The attackers are believed to have left the scene in a dark coloured Audi.

The men's injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.

They were taken to hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Sephton said an investigation is at its early stages but police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity.

He said: “Any piece of information could be key to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.

"We are particularly keen to trace the dark coloured Audi so if you saw it in the area or making off at speed, or have any dashcam footage, please get in touch.

“Fortunately in this case the injuries sustained by the victims are not life threatening, but it could’ve been much worse.

"Merseyside Police will not tolerate the use of weapons under any circumstances and the force is determined to stop those individuals who carry weapons from causing fear and harm in our communities.”
