A FOLLOW-UP planning application which lay out details of plans to build just less than 100 homes on a former industrial estate have been approved by St Helens Council.
An outline application had already received planning permission last October to build 82 houses on the former Deacon Trading Estate on Earle Street, Earlestown.
The follow-up application laid out more details of the plans and sought permission for an increased number of 98 homes.
Plans stated an"apartment block" has been added to the scheme "which has resulted in a higher density over and above which was consented in the outline planning permission".
The application said that it seeks to "provide a greater mix of dwellings ranging from one to four-bedroom homes and a mix of family housing and apartment accommodation".
It added: "The development at the land off Earle Street, Newton-le-Willows will provide an attractive, high quality designed area to live. The scale and character of the proposals will ensure that the scheme will contribute to and enhance the immediate and surrounding area".
Proposals were given the nod by planning officers.
