A COUPLE is turning their Tex-Mex dreams into a reality by opening a sleek family owned restaurant and deli in a former sofa store.

Sharon and Paul Bridge, from Sutton, are ready to throw open the doors of Sabroso on George Street.

The venue will be serving breakfasts, lunch, dinner, desserts, coffee and cocktails when it opens its doors tomorrow, Wednesday, June 6.

Following their success with a takeaway based in Thatto Heath, the husband and wife team decided to expand their dream. They have transformed the former George Street Suites store into a modern restaurant, complete with Mexican artwork and a stylish layout.

There is seating for up to 50 guests, a deli bar for takeaway options and a lengthy menu.

It also features a design by Mexican artist Farid Rueda, which was copied from his artwork on the sign of a building in Mexico.

Parents-of-two Paul, 49 and Sharon, 48, said: "We are just really excited to get going and offer people food and drink from morning until night.

"We've worked from 9am to 11pm at night to get it sorted, with our two daughters pitching in and helping doing the designs and everything – so it's been a real family effort.

"We've been seeing that the interest in our venue is open to a range of ages and we think there is something here for everyone.

"All our food is locally sourced and we prepare everything in house, including our brisket which is sourced from a local butcher."

The couple hope Sabroso will have a positive impact on the George Street area, where Spanish restaurant La Casa Vièja and Indian venue Ba'brsi are already based.

"We have been working really hard to get the look perfect and had great support from Retro Chimps who made the artwork and Vinyline who sorted our signage.

"We really want everyone to come along and see what we have to offer.

"We've already had customers from the takeaway wanting to come from Warrington and Widnes.

"St Helens isn't the best it's ever been right now but if we don't do something about it then it won't change and we are excited to be part of the development of this area.

"We just really wanted to offer a place for people to come from breakfast to evenings."

Sabroso have hired eight new staff and will be looking to take on more in the future. They also employ five chefs in total.

The menu includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options and will open to the public at 8am on Wednesday, June 6.

Sabroso will be open from 8am to 10pm on weekdays and 8am to 11pm on weekends.

Takeaway options are also available on Just Eat and via their app Sabroso Tex Mex on the app store.
