A WOMAN injured in a motorcycle accident in Castleford last night (Thursday) has expressed her thanks to the Saints-supporting doctor who came to her aid.

The accident took place on Lock Lane, not too far from the Jungle, at 7.10pm, with the woman, suffering injuries, including damage to her pelvis.

A doctor from St Helens, who was on his way to the ground, was one of the first people on scene and played a key role in looking after her.

A family member said: "He made sure she didn't move and assessed her symptoms.

"He and a Tigers fan kept her calm and comforted her and the doctor spoke to the Ambulance crew describing her symptoms and vitals so saved them a whole lot of time when they got there.

"I think he said 'well what a better way to unite two rivals, brother,' to the Cas fan."

She added that lots of fans were there to help but those two stuck in her mind.

The family have now been given the name of the doctor and will be sending their personal thanks in due course.
