THE wedding of the year may be taking place at Windsor Castle on Saturday, but the celebrations came a day earlier at Sutton Manor Primary School where they held their own royal wedding in Reception class.
Five-year-olds Daisy and Ethan acted as Meghan and Harry for the ceremony on Friday, May 18, with all of reception and nursery children making up the wedding party.
Meghan arrived in her unique carriage decked out with Union Jack Flags and Harry, wearing a robe, anxiously waited at the alter with his brother Will for the ceremony to begin.
After saying their vows and exchanging rings (they were sweets), they hugged and ran back down the aisle to have photographs taken.
After the ceremony guests sat down to Meghan and Harry decorated cupcakes and played pin the tail on the corgi before dancing the night away (until home time) at an outdoor disco.
Helen Lomas, foundation stage manager at the school, said: “We decided to make it a day they could remember to celebrate our British values and customs.
“Royal weddings are very special and we wanted them to get excited as well, even if they are only four and five.
“We have also made a box of items we are sending to the royal couple after their wedding – we hope they will reply.”
Those in the royal wedding party were: Ethan Kinsey, Lucas Lawrenson, Ava Smith, Jessie Hudson, Harrison Stott and Morgan Graves.
