PLANS to turn a launderette into a wine bar have been given the go-head.

Proposals were submitted to St Helens Council to convert the premises at 3 Dane Court, Rainhill.

The planning application states the area will become an "independent wine retail shop and bar, selling quality boutique wines by the glass and the bottle to take home or to drink in".

The business will also offer a "small selection of cold deli plates to buy alongside the wine."

The premises, which will include a "small outside seating area", will also offer a "small selection of beers and spirits".

The bar will employ two people full time and one part time.

The plans received two letters of support, including one from Rainhill Civic Society welcoming the proposals.

A planning officer's report says that opening hours must not be outside 10am to midnight for Mondays to Fridays; 9am to midnight on Saturdays and 10am to 11pm on Sundays.

The outdoor area must not be open outside 10am to 10pm.
