SADNESS has greeted the closure of the Royal Alfred Hotel pub in the town centre.
The popular town centre pub on Bickerstaffe Street, close to St Helens Central rail station, has closed its doors.
Vacant Property Services signs have been put on outside the building, which has been closed up.
