THE funeral of Saints legend Roy Haggerty will take place today, Monday, May 14.

Former Great Britain international Haggerty, who played for Saints between 1979-91, passed away earlier this month aged 58.

His funeral will take place at Lowe House Church at 1pm.

His wife Wendy is hoping that the community will line the streets on route to the church wearing rugby tops in his memory.

She said: "Roy loved rugby league, not just Saints, but all of rugby league and I know he would be honoured if people wore their team tops and lined the streets in his memory for his funeral.

"He was also a fan of Everton so if people want to wear their Everton tops that is welcome too.

"St Helens has a lot of bad thing going on sometimes but I know that at times like this they pull together and brings out the love this town has for it's own."

The funeral procession will start at noon outside Roy's home on Coronation Drive, Haydock, then go through Blackbrook, along Prescot Road and Dunriding Lane before arriving at the church.
