THIS is a photograph of a collection of dumped rubbish at a fly-tipping hotspot which the council has been called to deal with.

The photo was taken at the back near Parr Mount Street in St Helens earlier this month.

The area has been described as "suffering from periodic fly-tipping".

The council has been called to on numerous occasions to clear the site.

The local authority says it is cracking down on culprits who are found leaving their refuse in unlawful areas of the borough.

Commenting on the issue at Parr Mount Street, a St Helens Council spokesman said: “This area has suffered from periodic fly-tipping which - when brought to our attention - is removed by our cleansing team who pass on any evidence to environmental health so that enforcement action can be taken.

“Fly-tipping is a crime we take seriously and we will not hesitate to take action against those responsible.

"We have a good track record in identifying, fining, and where necessary, prosecuting those found guilty of committing this crime which takes up valuable council resources during the removal and cleansing process."
