“WE are doing this for the people of St Helens, because we don’t want anyone going through what we’ve been through.”

Those were the words of Danny Fox’s aunt on Friday as she spoke to more than 120 people who attended a corporate dinner at the Totally Wicked Stadium, raising £5,000 in his memory.

Danny Fox from Thatto Heath died as result of a knife wound following a night out on Westfield Street in September 2016.

The corporate event saw family, friends and guests pledge support to the newly titled Daniel Fox Foundation, which is dedicated to spreading awareness of knife crime.

Daniel’s auntie Dawn Jones, said: “It was only in December that we launched the campaign and it’s gone massively. We cannot believe it.

“We never ever expected anything like this and that’s due to the support of all Daniel’s friends, all of St Helens and the massive support from St Helens Council, Merseyside Police and the St Helens Star – who I have to say have been tremendous with us.

“We are only a small family and this has absolutely devastated us. But we’ve gone through a positive stage and we are doing this now for the St Helens people, to make the town safe, because we don’t want anyone going through what we’ve been through.

“We will continue to do preventative measures. We will not give up.”
