POLICE are urging parents to ensure they know where their children in response to cases of young people found drunk in public parks.

Officers emphasised that they can't be used as a "taxi service" for drunken youths following cases of parents having to collect their children from Taylor Park who were seen by police.

Police issued an alert to parents calling on them to know where their children are and what they are doing after officers had to convey drunken teens back to their home addresses and give advice to parents.

In some cases, 'Acceptable Behaviour Contracts' (ABCs) are agreed between the youths and their parents and the police as a way of enforcement to those who continue to act in such a way.

A police spokesman said: "Due to ongoing demands we as a police service cannot be used as a taxi service to convey drunken youths to their home addresses and will request that parents come to collect their children if found in such circumstances.

"Also if youths are found to be drunk and incapable, then the NHS are also inconvenienced into providing ambulances and hospital care."
