  • Walking event

KEEN walkers are invited to the next event organised by St Helens Ramblers at Horton-in-Ribblesdale in West Yorkshire.

It will take place on Saturday, April 21, where there will be a choice of three graded walks between six and 12 miles.

  • Joint choir 
  • HAYDOCK Male Voice Choir will be joined by Ladies Choir the Chanterelles and soloist Ellie Hull later this month for a one off concert.

The event, at St Helens United Reformed Church on Ormskirk Street, will take place on Saturday, April 28 from 7.30pm.

RESIDENTS wanting to gain qualifications, find a job or volunteer are invited to attend an Adult and Community Learning event this month.

From Monday, April 16 to Monday, April 23, courses ranging from digital skills to wellbeing, supporting teaching and learning in schools and volunteering, will be on offer.

To find out more, attend the ‘Discover Your Potential’ event at St Helens Town Hall on Thursday, April 19.

The event takes place between 10am and 1pm, otherwise drop into the Park Road Centre on Park Road anytime from 8.30am to 5.15pm.

  • 40th anniversary

PARISHIONERS who would like to attend the special Mass for the 40th anniversary of St Thomas of Canterbury and Lowe House priest Father Tom Gagie can express their interest.

The service will be at Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral on Friday, June 8 which will honour all priests celebrating a Jubilee.

Parishioners who would like to attend should call the parish office on 01744 22077.

There will also be celebration Masses for Fr Tom at St Thomas of Canterbury at 7pm on Friday, July 20 followed by a buffet at the Nalgo, Bishop Road and at Lowe House on Sunday, July 22 at 11am with a barbecue to follow.

  • ‘Nearly new’ sale

GRAB some ‘nearly new’ bargains’ as a sale is held at Peasley Cross United Reformed Church on Friday (April 13).

The sale will take place at 6.30pm at the Beaufort Street church.

  • Holy Hour

THE first Archdiocesan Holy Hour at St Thomas of Canterbury Church, Dentons Green will take place on Thursday, April 19.

The event will start at 7.15pm and will follow the format set out by the Archdiocese in preparation for the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage & Congress for Synod 2020.

  • Family tree search

PEOPLE wanting to know their family’s history are invited to attend a taster session for a Tracing Your Family Tree course on Tuesday.

The event, on Tuesday, April 17 at Eccleston Library, will be highlighting the free five week course to help residents put together their own family trees and is suitable for beginners.

The course will run from Tuesday, April 24 to Tuesday, May 22 from 1pm to 3pm.
