FIREFIGHTERS have been tackled a large industrial fire this morning, Thursday.

Eight crews were called to two industrial units on Bahama Road in Haydock around 1am after reports they were ablaze.

The fire had spread from a food processing building to adjourning offices and units.

A combined platform ladder was used as well.  

The fire was divided into three sectors with main jets, ground monitors and breathing apparatus in use.

After isolating the electricity to the buildings, firefighter fought the flames inside.

By around 5am the blaze had been reduced to one building where small pockets of fire remained.

Although breathing apparatus was not needed at this point, firefighters could not enter due to falling debris from above.

Crews were able to being damping down the area by 6am.

Firefighters are still on the scene to ensure all hot spots are contained and to finish the damping down process.

Residents and businesses nearby were advised to keep windows and doors closed.
