A MAN is due to appear in court this morning after a man received head injuries following an assault on Sutton Road on Saturday.
Gary Newton, 41, of Tiverton Road in Halewood was charged with Section 18 wounding and assaulting a police constable on Saturday, March 17.
At around 7.30pm on Saturday, officers were called to an address on Sutton Road to allegations a man in his 50s had been assaulted by a man carrying a baton.
Officers arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and assaulting a police officer.
He was taken to a police station for questioning.
The victim was taken to hospital with a head injury and his condition is currently described as stable.
Newton was kept in custody and will appear at Knowsley, Liverpool and St Helens Adult Remand Court, Derby Square, this morning, Monday, March 19.
