A FATHER whose nine-week-old baby girl died in her sleep is holding a music festival in her memory that will aim to prevent parents suffering similar anguish.

John Hodson, 48 and Nasreen Begum, 45, lost their daughter Skye Hodson on December 1, 2016, despite her previously being in good health.

Skye was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where specialist staff supported her parents and family following her death.

The grieving parents held a charity concert night last year, which raised more than £2,100 for the bereavement suite at the hospital.

This year they hope to raise even more for charities that research sudden infant death syndrome.

Dad-of-three John Hodson, from Clock Face, who is a drummer in a metal band called Deathwish, is hosting SkyeFest at Rendezvous Bar on Church Street on Saturday, April 28.

He will be joined by other St Helens bands and hopes the community will support him once again.

Fork lift driver, John, said: “Skye was special we know she was, not only because she’s my first girl, but she was a beautiful baby and I fell in love with her straight away.

“Losing a child is the worst thing that can ever happen, and to not know why it happened is horrific.

“Both myself and Skye’s mum don’t want other people going through the pain we have, but we know other people suffer this and it needs to stop.

“That’s why we have got bands together to raise funds for these charities that aim to stop this happening

“It would mean so much for people to help us because we have to research into this more.

“We need to find the reason this happens to little babies.

“That is so important to us now.”

Other bands at the event include Polker, Salander, Caution, The Patriots, Titors Insignia and M.S.P.

Wrist bands for entry cost £3 and can be purchased from Rendezvous Bar.

The event will start at 4pm.

John is also holding a SkyeFest event in Chester on June 30.
