A MAN charged with a string of offences inlcuding wounding with intent and kidnap in connection with an alleged incident at a Whiston pub has appeared in court.

The man had been questioned by police after an alleged assault at the  Carrs Hotel pub on Saturday night.

John Molloy, 27, of Cross Lane, Prescot was charged with several offences.

A man and a woman were injured at around 11pm at the Dragon Lane pub.

Molloy is charged with a Section 18 wounding with intent, assault causing ABH and assault by beating.

He has also been charged with two counts of kidnap, drink driving and possession of a Stanley knife.

Molly has also been charged with failing to provide a sample for a class A drug test while in custody on Sunday, March 11.

He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today (Monday, March 12).

Molly was remanded in custody and will appear next at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, April 9.

A police spokesman said after the incident: "The female victim sustained no lasting injuries and the male victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his abdomen and back, described as non-serious.

"The male suspect left the scene in a vehicle and was located by police a short time later.

"A 27-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of assault and driving under the influence of alcohol and is currently in police custody for questioning."
