BATMAN, Spiderman, Superman, or Wonder Woman…which superhero will you be at Haydock Park’s Easter Family Day on Easter Saturday, March 31.

The racecourse will be hosting one of its biggest family events this Easter with a day packed full of superhero fun and racing.

And ahead of the big occasion at Haydock, the Star and TV presenter Helen Skelton are teaming up for a special writing competition.

General manager of Haydock Park, Jason Fildes said: “We are looking for all budding authors to enter the Superhero Creative Writing Competition writing an imaginative story about the racecourse.”

The competition is supported and judged by children’s TV presenter, Helen Skelton with the most interesting superhero story winning a £250 voucher

It is set to be a superb day on the track with the 2018 Challenger Series Finals strengthening the seven race card.

Alongside the racing, the Be Friendly enclosure will be calling all superheroes o have a go on all the free activities.

These include an inflatable assault course, climbing walls, bungee run, football penalty shoot-out, pony rides, crazy golf, plus many more.

Jason added: “We are really excited for the Superhero Family Day and to celebrate Easter with local families and racegoers.

“For the first time, we are hosting a children’s race on the track for all attending superheroes to use their superpowers and run as fast as they can!

“There will be three races, Under 6s, 6-10 years and over 10s so I’m very much looking forward to seeing the races under way.”

- YOUNG writers should focus their stories on Haydock Park Racecourse and must include a horse, jockey and superhero with a maximum of 500 words.


Helen Skelton, former Blue Peter host will judge the competition either on or before the Easter Family Day. The winner will be announced at the race day.
