CHILDREN created Valentine’s Day hearts as part of the town’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
More than 90 youngsters had fun at the Shopper Whopper kids club in Church Square Shopping Centre.
They learnt about the town’s past while enjoying an arts and crafts session.
Many more events are planned.
Steve Brogan, Church Square’s centre manager, said: “St Helens is steeped in history, from our mention in the Doomsday Book through to the successful role it played throughout the industrial revolution when coal mining and glassmaking thrived in the town.
“We are extremely proud of our heritage and this year is all about celebrating this. “
