A CAMPAIGN group who want to keep the night skies free from light pollution have raised concerns over the proposed iconic artwork for the town.
The British Astronomical Association Campaign for Dark Skies has said that the artwork could undermine the educational and scientific work at the Liverpool Astronomical Society in Cronton.
Gerard Gilligan, the Campaign for Dark Skies officer for Merseyside said: "We do not totally oppose the plans for the proposed artwork, but we wish to express our concerns if night time lighting is incorporated into its designs."
The Campaign for Dark Skies want a reduction in the use of artificial light, which they claim is "blotting" out the stars.
