AN 18-YEAR-OLD man has been questioned by police on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a teenager was hit by a car.
Police were called to Two Butt Lane, Rainhill shortly before 11.30pm on Tuesday, February 6 to a report that a red Ford Fiesta car had overturned.
A 17-year-old boy, who was a pedestrian, sustained head and hip injuries after being struck
He was taken to hospital where his condition was described yesterday as critical, but stable. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A police spokesman said: "It is believed the injured male was with a group of four other males, including a 13-year-old boy and 18-year-old man who attended hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
"A lamppost was also damaged in the collision.
"An 18-year-old man from St Helens has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
"He was taken to a police station to be interviewed."
The 18-year-old has since been released under investigation.
