A PRIMARY school pupil’s bright and cheery picture of snowman helped her win a national Christmas card competition.
Nine-year-old Orlaith Kimber, from Billinge, was awarded the overall winner prize and in a festive challenge run by the Daily Mirror newspaper.
Her snowman card design, which sports a robin on one of its arms, is available to buy online with money going to NSPCC and Childline.
Chapel End Primary School pupil Orlaith said: “I was ecstatic when I found out I had won the competition because I am really happy the money from the sales will go to such a good cause.
“I have always liked building a snowman and I got the idea to put the robin on its arm as I remember seeing them in my nan and grandad’s garden.”
Her mum Annie Danne, 49, xpressed her delight with her daughter’s success.
Teacher Annie said: “I am absolutely overjoyed Orlaith won the competition because it is for such a good cause.
“She loves drawing and everyone has been really impressed with her lovely picture of the snowman.
“There has been a great reaction since the card went on sale and a lot of friends and work colleagues have bought them.
“Hopefully the card will continue to sell as many copies as possible for Christmas.”
n The card went on sale on December 6 and can be purchased online at nspcc.org.uk/cardshop.
