A MUM whose nine-year-old daughter has autism has pledged to do 1,000 burpees in aid of a charity that arranges days out and events for children with learning difficulties.

Suzanne Barrow, from Moss Bank will begin the squat thrust challenge once she has raised £1,000 for the St Helens-based Friends – Play for Disabled Children charity.

The 36-year-old, who has lost 8st to be a healthier mum to her daughter Maya, said: “The charity is run by two women from St Helens and they desperately need funding because what they do for families like mine is so important.

“The group means the world to us because we can go out and not be worried if Maya acts up or wants to leave early because they all understand.

“They hold loads of events and it has stopped me from feeling socially isolated because I wouldn’t have gone out otherwise.

“It also means that Maya doesn’t feel different.

“They hold events at loads of places so families can experience different things and not be limited.”

Suzanne has set up a crowdfunding page with a £1,000 target.

She added: “Once I have reached my target I will be doing the challenge in Sports Direct, ideally before Christmas.”
