A DAY dedicated to making a difference will be held in memory of Elliott Lamb next Friday, December 15.

Make a Difference Friday is being organised by dad-of-three Chris Lamb.

It falls on the seventh anniversary of his four-year-old son’s death in 2010.

Wanting to do something positive to cherish Elliott’s memory, Chris came up with the idea of collecting as many Terry’s Chocolate Oranges as possible for hospital staff nationwide.

The annual appeal has seen more than 20,000 chocolate oranges donated to date.

This year various charities are getting involved, including the Mayor of St Helens Cllr Joe Pearson’s chosen charity St Helens Mind, as is St Helens Council.

The event will be held from 9am to noon at the town hall and will include fundraising and musical entertainment.

Cllr Barrie Grunewald, leader of the council, said: “We are lucky to have so many inspiring charities here in St Helens and Friday, December 15 – national Local Charities Day – will be a significant time to come together to recognise the remarkable work that goes on for the benefit of so many people in the borough.

“It is an event I am very much looking forward to and it promises to be a great occasion.”

The Mayor is encouraging everyone to wear Christmas hats on the day and to donate chocolate oranges for Chris’ annual appeal.
