FIREFIGHTERS were called to a property after Christmas cards close to a kitchen toaster erupted in flames leading to a blaze breaking out.
Two fire engines were called to a house on Clipsley Lane, Haydock to tackle the flames.
The toaster was damaged by the fire and the kitchen sustained smoke damage.
The fire broke out shortly before 6.15pm on Saturday (December 9).
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said: "The fire, in the ground floor kitchen, involved Christmas cards placed near to a toaster.
"The toaster was damaged by fire and the kitchen sustained smoke damage. There were no injuries."
They added: "Crews fitted new smoke alarms as those in the property failed to activate.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around 20 minutes."
