A COUPLE have spoken of their shock after being awoken by the sound of a car smashing into their vehicles parked outside their home.

Nathan Winstanley and fiancee Kimberley were horrified to find their cars wrecked after the alleged hit and run outside their Windermere Avenue property in Clinkham Wood at around 5.30am on Saturday.

Quick-minded Nathan decided to follow footsteps left behind in the snow all the way to Gerrards Court in an unsuccessful bid to try and catch the perpetrator who had apparently made off on foot.

A black Audi collided at speed with the couple’s two cars, a red Seat and an Audi TT.

The Seat, a company car, was hit first on the front passenger side and Nathan says is now a write-off.

The collision caused the Seat to hit the Audi TT, spinning it around 45 degrees and causing substantial damage.

A neighbour’s car was also affected.

“We were fast asleep and we heard a horrendous bang. Straight away we both jumped out the bed,” said Nathan, 29.

“It has caused us much inconvenience, just before Christmas and we we’re going to get married and have to spend money on this.”

The identity of the driver is unknown, with police investigating the collision.

A police spokeswoman said: “An Audi collided with three parked cars –a Seat, Renault and Audi at 6.50am. Occupants of the Audi left car at scene which has been recovered for enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 253 of December 9, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
