A MAN has been taken to hospital after a two-car crash on Marshalls Cross Road earlier today.

The collision took place shortly before midday and involved a red Ford KA and a silver Ford C-Max at the junction with Peasley Cross Lane.

Police had closed an area of the road down while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Fire crews and ambulance also attended the scene and a man was taken to hospital.

The extent of his injuries have not yet been confirmed by police.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "The collision happened at 11.55am. 

"A man has been taken to hospital."

He added: "The road has now been reopened."
