THE family of a former lawyer and model who tragically died in hospital have received an award in her honour after her donated organs helped to save others.

Holly Moriarty died on December 18 last year aged 33 after having an operation for a broken leg at Blackburn Royal Hospital.

Having become a mum to son Jensen earlier in 2016, those Holly left behind also included mum Harlia Givens, sister Kendell and partner Kristian Garner.

After her death, Holly’s organs were donated to help others including her lungs, kidney and liver.

A former Merton Bank Primary and Cowley schoolgirl, Holly had a career as a lawyer and also did work as a model in her spare time.

She did catwalk modelling and also modelled for make-up and small companies.

Holly has been described as a thrill seeker with a love for supercars and an ambitious driven woman who loved life.

She had lived in Bacup before her tragic death which came eight months after she had given birth to son Jensen Williamson Garner, who she had with partner Kristian.

Holly’s family travelled to the Preston Guild Hall to receive the Order of St John’s Ambulance award for bravery, which was presented to them in Holly’s honour.

Her mum Harlia was among those who attended to receive the award in Preston.

After receiving the award, mum Harlia said: “It was lovely, really nice and we had baby Jensen with us.

“It was an honour and quite sad. There are four women who have now got Holly’s organs.

“One is a schoolteacher in the Midlands, who wrote me a lovely letter.

“She had cystic fibrosis and had no quality of life and she said it was the best Christmas present.

“She said that she thinks about us every day.”

Holly was a type one diabetic and her mum added that helping others was something she had always strived to do in life.

Harlia, from Cowley Hill, added: “She always tried to help people and all the money from her funeral went to WISH, which is a children’s diabetes group.

“She played rugby and she did lots of things. She also did a lot of charity work for the Christie.

“She was an unsung hero of St Helens.”
