A COMPANY which has provided barriers to prevent terrorist attacks in America has won a prestigious business award.

ATG Access, which is based at Haydock Industrial Estate, beat competition from five leading companies to take the Export Champion of the Year accolade at the Amazon Growing Business Awards in London last Wednesday.

The business, which supplies security products to more than 40 countries, has recently dispatched its new surface mounted barrier innovation, Surface Guard, to New York after a terrorist attack on October 31 when eight people were killed and 11 more injured after a truck was driven into a cycleway.

Hundreds more units have been shipped to other areas of the US likely to attract crowds too.

Judges were wowed by ATG’s exporting strategy, its relationships with overseas partners and its success at expanding its services and products into international markets.

Sales and marketing director Gavin Hepburn said: “Being crowned Export Champion at the Amazon Growing Business Awards is a huge achievement for us.

“By tackling global security concerns with innovative new products like Surface Guard, we hope to continue our growth in export markets in years to come and make the world a better and safer place.”

ATG, which has just celebrated 10 years of exporting road blockers, bollards and vehicle barrier systems, is also aiming to exceed £10 million of sales per annum in the next year.
