A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital after an incident this morning on a busy road.

The man, in his 50s, was taken to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary after North West Ambulance Service were called to Main Street in Billinge at 10.30am.

A spokesman from NWAS said: “We were called at 10.30am outside the Spar on Main Street to help a cyclist in his 50s.

“He’s been taken to hospital seriously ill.”

Witnesses who saw the man being treated said a group of cyclists were at the scene.

Emergency services say it is not clear at the stage what happened.
