A PHOTOGRAPH featuring a church lads’ brigade on the back of a wagon on their way to a holiday in North Wales has generated a big response from Star readers.

Harold Holloway shared the nostalgic snap featuring the boys from St Thomas’ and Holy Trinity Parr Mount churches on their way to Rhuddlan, which he believes was taken in 1949.

An email sent to the Star from Brenda Muir (nee Bradbury) from Vancouver, Canada said: “Your article was emailed to me from my family in England.

“The young man on the bottom right hand side of the photograph is our dad Leslie Bradbury, who lived in St Helens all his life.

“If you could pass this information on to Harold Holloway I would appreciate it.

“It was a lovely photo of the boys and I was very pleased to see it.

“Thank you. Brenda.”

Another message, from Beryl Huyton, read: “My late husband Norman Huyton is second from the right on the front row, next to him on the front row (right) is Les Bradbury and second from right on the back row is Don Cunliffe.”

“I have a different picture of the same group and also one in their brigade uniform.”
