MANSION House will appear on television screens across the country on Tuesday as an episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip which was filmed there is to be aired.

The Star reported in May when Ricky Tomlinson joined fellow former Brookside star Michael Starke at Mansion House to film the episode of the BBC programme, alongside experts and crew members.

The TV show sees celebrities paired with an antiques expert and go head to head to try and make the most profit from their purchases.

Royle Family star Ricky, who played Bobby Grant in the Liverpool soap went up against former co-star Michael, who played Sinbad in Brookside and is also known for playing Ken in Hearbeat spin-off The Royal.

Antiques specialists Margie Cooper and Catherine Southon joined the actors at Mansion House to film the episode.

Sitting on Cowley Hill, the Mansion House is steeped in history, and was built around 1849 by the late gentleman solicitor John Ansdell, becoming one of the town's iconic buildings with Age UK Mid Mersey now based at the venue.

The episode description on the BBC website states that "celebrity likely lads" Ricky and Micky kick off the episode from Knutsford, Cheshire, as they head for auction in Southport, making stops along the way including the historic St Helens venue.

It said: "Ricky turns out to be an impulse buyer while Micky adopts a more relaxed approach. Gamble buys include antiques from Japan and China, but what will sell closer to home?"

The episode is to be screened on BBC Two at 7pm on Tuesday, November 14.
