MEMBERS of the public helped police restrain a suspected drug dealer in the town centre.
Officers were alerted to a man allegedly drug dealing at 2pm on Monday.
A suspect matching the description was detained by officers on Ormskirk Street, St Helens and stop searched.
But he attempted to escape and officers had to force him to the floor.
Reinforcements were called but members of the public assisted police.
An 18-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin.
He has now been released under investigation.
