BREAST cancer survivor Julie Lynan has already raised thousands to help sufferers of the disease - and last week she got to live the high life travelling around in a pink limo.

Julie, 55, who had the illness in 2012, works as a patient advice and liaison (PALS) officer at Whiston Hospital, and made it her mission to thank everyone who had cared for her at the hospital.

Mum-of-two Julie and her 'pink army' were out on the road, making visits to both Whiston and St Helens hospitals, St Helens College and parking up in Victoria Square during their travels on Friday (October 20).

The event was the third 'Pink Friday' Julie has taken part in to help women enduring the same situation that Julie had five years ago.

And the team were joined by popular ITV presenter Paul Crone who was on the vehicle with the pink army to report on their mission.

"This is the third Pink Friday we've done and we wanted to make it bigger and better," said Julie, from Eccleston.

"We're trying to spread the colour pink around the town. It's been very emotional and overwhelming, the response we've had.

"I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful treatment that we've had and the money we've raised is for specialised bras and a drain bag for people having a mastectomy or breast reconstruction," added Julie, who is a nominee for the champion fundraiser gong at this year's pride of St Helens awards to be held in November.

Ann Marr, chief executive of St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, added: "We're incredibly proud of Julie and her amazing fundraising.

"She is also a popular member of our staff and we support her and everything that she does which is why she is our employee of the year."
