STORM Ophelia caused damage on Tuesday with firefighters dealing with tree in the road, a crushed car and loose roof tiles.

A parked car was damaged by a fallen branch on Carnegie Crescent in Sutton on Monday, October 16 – causing the road to be partially closed off.

One engine attended after the call just after 5.15pm and occupiers of a house were advised to evacuate due to a second branch being in a dangerous position.

A tree surgeon was called to remove the branch and the incident has now been passed to police have been requested by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service to attend.

Elsewhere there was a fallen tree on Broadway in Eccleston which was reported just before 5.50pm.

One engine attended but the incident was dealt with by St Helens Council.

Firefighters were also called to a fallen tree in Rainford shortly before 10.50pm, where a chainsaw and winch were used. A search and rescue team also attended.

Crews set up cordons but no one was injured and the incident was handed over to St Helens Council.

Finally, firefighters were called to a town centre property at 6.15pm after a piece of wood became loose on its roof
