THE borough’s top secondary schools have been revealed based on GCSE results.

Rainhill High and Rainford High were the highest achieving schools in the area.

Rainhill finished top based on its Progress 8 score which ranks school by how much progress pupils made between the end of their year 6 SATs and their GCSEs, compared to pupils across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 2. This is based on results in up to eight qualifications.

Meanwhile, Rainford High got the highest Attainment 8 score based on how well pupils have performed in up to eight qualifications.
