PLANS to redevelop a former distribution depot into 400-homes have been unveiled.

The site, which is the former Suttons depot on the Linkway Distribution Park adjacent to Elton Head Road, is now mostly empty and unable to compete with more modern facilities in the area.

Suttons Group aim to improve the site with a multi-million pound development of around 400 high-quality and sensitively-designed homes, footpaths and cycle routes, as well as public open spaces.

The plans are at an early stage, and Suttons Group, who are working in conjunction with St Helens Council, would like to invite residents to view the plans and provide feedback.

A public exhibition will be held on Thursday, October 19, between 3pm and 7pm, at Perth Community Centre, on Dunedin Street, Thatto Heath.

A spokesman for Suttons Group said: “We are bringing forward proposals to develop the Linkway Distribution Centre with a multi-million-pound investment which will transform the site, increase the housing stock in St Helens, and improve spending in the area.

“The scheme will provide a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes with public open space and new walking and cycling routes.

“The scheme will enhance the local area for the people of Thatto Heath, and we now look forward to meeting residents and hearing their views at our public exhibition on Thursday, October 19.”
