A 10-YEAR-OLD girl with a stoma bag is encouraging others to show off their stoma’s saying she is proud of the device that “saved my life.”

Charlotte Anders from Carr Mill, who has missed a lot of school due to having the stoma fitted, which works as part of her inetestines but on the outside of her body.

Now she is back and hosting a fundraiser at Carr Mill Primary School this Friday, October 6 to raise money and awareness the day before Colostomy Day on Saturday, October 7.

The Carr Mill Primary pupil has the full backing of her school and her friends - who did a dance wearing stomas in support of Charlotte.

Her mum Nikki Anders, 30 said: “I’m very proud of Charlotte but it wasn’t a surprise when she asked to do it as she is very proactive and a lovely person.

“She is very proud of her stoma and says it saved my life.

“She wants everyone to post pictures of themselves using #showyourstoma on social media as she knows she isn’t alone.

“She came up with the fundraising day all on her own after seeing what other people do on social media and wanted to say it’s okay to have a stoma and wanted to do something.

“Fortunately, she hasn’t experienced anything but support from friends and school so she is very confident in herself and all the family are so proud of her.”
