A MAN was taken to hospital for checks after a fire broke out in a bedroom.,
Firefighters were called to the fire at a property on Willis Lane, Whiston shortly after 5.30pm on Thursday (September 21).
Three fire engines attended the incident and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.
A man was checked at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital for further checks.
A quantity of towels and bedding, an airing cupboard and a bedroom sustained fire damage.
The first floor of the property sustained smoke damage.
Firefighters carried out a Home Fire Safety Check and fitted two new smoke alarms at the property.
They remained at the incident for around 40 minutes.
