A MAN was bitten after a struggle with a motorcyclist who was trying to flee the scene of a crash.

The collision between a Honda motorbike and a car happened on Ashtons Green Drive, Parr on Saturday afternoon, shortly before 2pm.

It is alleged the motorbike rider attempted to escape the scene but he was detained by a member of the public, who was allegedly assaulted.

Pictures posted on social media by police show a man's hand with what appears to be a bite mark.

Officers seized two large bags of cannabis and are examining whether the motorbike had been taken in a burglary in Preston.

Afterwards, a 24-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, possession with intent to supply cannabis, drug driving, driving without a licence, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and assault.

He was questioned before being released under investigation.
