THE Citadel’s new season of entertainment has something for everyone – from an Alfred Hitchcock spy thriller adaptation to Peter and the Wolf, The Abominable Snowman and a whole host of tribute acts.

Four talented performers will take on the mammoth task of portraying 50 characters over 100 minutes in Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps on Friday, September 8 with Northern Comedy Theatre.

Martin Stephenson will stop by on Saturday, September 23 for an intimate evening of music and popular 80s group China Crisis will make a welcome return performing old and new tracks on Friday, November 10.

November will also see blues fans entertained by Simon McBride followed by guitarist Aynsley Lister with Stevie Nimmo’s blistering evening of blues rock coming in April.

Some of St Helens’ favourite bands will be returning to The Citadel this season with Merry Hell giving their annual Merry Helloween concert on Saturday, October 28 and The Clone Roses presenting an evening of Stone Roses hits on Saturday, November 18 followed by The Lancashire Hotpots celebrating ten years of comedy folk next February.

The Smiths Ltd will kick off the tribute acts on Saturday, September 16 and Yes wannabes Seyes appear on Saturday, September 30 with Bootleg Blondie playing homage to Debbie Harry on Friday, October 13.

Classic Rock Society presents two shows this autumn with Mostly Autumn performing on Saturday, November 4 and legendary drummer Carl Palmer appearing on Friday, November 17 in memory of Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and John Wetton.

Sari Schorr will showcase her incredible vocals on Saturday, January 20.

Family shows lined up include Goblin’s Peter and the Wolf this Sunday (September 4) with David Gibb presenting Climb That Tree on Saturday, December 9 and Christmas show The Abominable Snowman appearing for two shows on Sunday, December 10.

Come and see some of your favourite tales told like never before as Half Moon Theatre present Fairytales Gone Bad on Sunday, October 29 with their mysterious storyteller putting a gruesome twist on classic stories for Hallowe’en.
