A MUM-of-three died less than a week after getting her dying wish to marry her sweetheart.

Angela Allen, from Billinge, died on Thursday, August 3 after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer at the beginning of July.

The 53-year-old had been with her partner Wayne Hesketh for 20 years and told her district nurse Emma Wilson that her last wish was to marry him.

Emma contacted the Honeyrose Foundation, a St Helens charity who provide dying wishes to people with terminal illnesses, who arranged the wedding at the couple’s home on Friday, July 28.

They provided the whole day including a wedding dress, hair and makeup, photographer, banners, flowers and food for guests.

Wayne now wants to express his thanks to Honeyrose Foundation and highlight the good they do ahead of Angela's funeral on Thursday August 24.

The 49-year-old said: “I put on a brave face on the day but I was so happy to officially call her my wife and that memory means everything to me now that Angela is gone. I miss her every day.

“We were going to get married ages ago but after a while we just carried on however when she got diagnosed she said she wanted my name before she died.

“We didn’t know she was sick, we just knew she was losing weight and after tests they told us at the beginning of July she had terminal cancer – we were just so shocked.

“The Honeyrose Foundation did everything they could for us to make our day special, they came and put a spread on and made it a nice day for her, which now means so much to me and our daughter Amanda.

“The three of us have always been so close but that day was special for us and the glint Angela had in her eyes made it all worthwhile.

“We have a lovely album to remember the day now and they also arranged a honeymoon trip to Llandudno for us but sadly Angela died two days before we were meant to go.

“The Honeyrose Foundation get a 10 out of 10 from me, they deserve so much more credit for what they do for people and I will volunteer with them in the future.

“This has really opened my eyes and I just want to thank them for helping make that day happen for me and my wife.”
