THREE venues have secured extended licences to show the televised bout between boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather and UFC icon Conor McGregor, St Helens Council has confirmed.

The ‘Money Fight’ as it is known, between the world-renowned Floyd Mayweather and Irish UFC superstar Conor McGregor, will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 26.

It is reported the fight time in the UK will be 5am on Sunday, August 27, which means premises wanting to keep their doors open will need an extension so fans can watch it live.

The Nelson on Bridge Street, The Boars Head on Elton Head Road and Clock Face Labour Club on Clock Face Road have received their extended licence.

Other venues are expected to apply ahead of Saturday night.

For a licence for extended opening hours, pubs and clubs will have to apply to the council ahead of the date.
